The Asperger's Awareness Council of the NYU Child Study Center, raises funds for youth with Asperger's Syndrome, a high functioning autism spectrum disorder. Asperger's, which has no cure, is characterized by different degrees of impairment in language and communication skills, as well as repetitive or restrictive patterns of thought and behavior. Living with Asperger's can be a struggle, especially for children who come from limited resources and whose families are ill-equipped to handle their special needs. AAC was founded to help raise money and awareness for this disease so no child would have to grow up without treatment.
